Alex: Post 2nd surgery

Well, Alex came through the operation to remove his native kidney and all went well. He is in pain. His transplanted kidney is still doing great!! The surgeon said that the old kidney was in terrible shape. Instead of being firm it was like a blob of flesh. The damage was evident. The ureter leading from the kidney to the bladder was enlarged; all due to the Urethral valve condition. Those of us who were present having dinner in the room when Alex got back from surgery were Lindsay, Nathan, Mark & Rebecca Bell me and Christine, Rebecca's best friend. Alex heals and bounces back fast from surgery, however he does not deal well with the pain. Who does? They also removed the hemo port. When he feels well enough to go home, they will release him. Looks like Alex will be swimming this summer!! We are all excited!! Please keep praying for his recovery and the continued great function of his transplanted kidney. Alex sister in kidneys also had surgery today to remove her peritoneal port. She is also doing well and they plan on keeping up with each other. Well there it is! More to come,Ed for the family
