Nan's 90th Birthday

We kept it pretty simple this weekend. We visited two garden centres on Saturday to get a bunch of necessaries for our newly thriving garden. We had lunch at Pole Hilll Garden Centre (it has a really cute cafe) and Christian got the biggest baked potato either of us had ever seen. This was a massive giant of a potato, and we bowed in hommage to it.

Sunday was wonderful. It was Nan's 90th birthday, and Christian's uncle John organised a splendid party at Chapter One, in Locksbottom. It was wonderful to be reunited with the family again; as we hadn't been together since Jackie and Justin's wedding on 1 May 2004. The food was excellent, and the company better. It was delightful to spend quality time with the cousins, as we so rarely get a chance to. Click here for photos from the day.

On an extended family note - we called up the various family outposts in the New World, speaking firstly to all the folk gathered in Kingston for Mothers Day, and then to the assempled throng in Texas. Speaking with the Jones offspring was a real joy, especially finally getting to talk to Alex. He sounds healthy and hearty and ready for action!
